WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I HAVE FILLED OUT THE SELF-DISCLOSURE FORM?
After reviewing your application, Elfe will contact you personally. During this conversation, you can ask all your questions and learn everything about the dog, its character, health status, transport, and arrival.
CAN YOU HELP ME FIND THE RIGHT DOG?
Yes, absolutely. Please fill out the self-assessment form . This will allow Elfe to better determine which of her dogs might be a good fit for you and then get in touch. We want humans and dogs to be a perfect match – that's why we offer personalized and heartfelt advice.
IS A PRE-ADOPTION HOME CHECK TAKING PLACE?
Yes. A helper or partner will visit you after prior arrangement – simply to get to know you and your future home. It's not about control, but about safety for both parties.
WHAT COSTS WILL I BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?
The costs depend on various factors, such as the airline, transport, and the dog's export status. The exact costs are determined individually and usually range from €500 to €1,000. There is no additional adoption fee. If needed, our support association can assist with the costs.
WILL YOU SUPPORT ME DURING THE PROCESS?
Yes, a volunteer will accompany you throughout the entire process, offering advice and answering any questions you may have. Even after you've adopted your new pet, Elisabeth and her team will continue to provide support and guidance. You'll receive all the essential tips on securing your new companion (safety harness, double leash, GPS tracker if needed) and on the adjustment period.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE UNTIL THE DOG CAN MOVE IN WITH ME?
If the dog is already ready to travel, it will be ready in approximately 4 to 8 weeks. If the dog is not yet ready to travel, it can enter the EU no earlier than 4 months later.
